• End of Year First Grade Standards

    Math: By the end of first grade, students should be able to recite basic facts for addition and subtraction to 18. Students should be able to complete 30 mixed problems correctly in 1 minute. 

    Reading: By the end of first grade, students should be able to read a grade level text (Level J) at 60 WPM with 98% accuracy. They should also be able to answer comprehension questions about the text.

    Sight Words: By the end of first grade, students should be able to identify at least 100 sight words.

    Writing: Students will engage in the writing process and be able to generate up to 3 sentences on topic with proper capitalization and punctuation. Words should be spelled phonetically and sight words should be spelled correctly.

    Handwriting: By the end of first grade, students should be able to write legibly all lower case and capital letters. Students should use apporiate spacing and stay in the lines.
