• In accordance with 19 TAC 89, students who have a home language other than English are assessed to determine if they need support in English to progress satisfactorily in school.  Students who qualify for support services in Coupland, are placed in a content based program where they receive English as a Second Language instruction from their English Language Arts & Reading teacher.  The goal of the program is to ensure that the students become competent in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English.
