I am the Special Programs teacher here at Coupland.
I am from Texas but have also lived in Minnesota, North Carolina, and studied abroad in Wales. In 2003 I received a B.A. in history with a minor in political science from Texas Lutheran University. During my 10+ years in education I have mostly taught 7th grade Texas History and 8th grade US History.
I began my career in education in Alpine, a small town in the Big Bend region of Texas. While there I also earned a M.Ed. in School Administration from Sul Ross State University. Later, I taught in Anderson, a small town in East Texas and most recently at a public charter school in South Austin.
Currently, I am a doctoral student in the Curriculum and Instruction - Social Studies Education program at The University of Texas at Austin. My research interests include critical geography, maps, historical memory, curriculum studies, rural education, museums, and outdoor education.
My free time is spent mostly with my wife, and two children where we live in a tiny house on the family farm. I enjoy playing dominos, and being outdoors. After graduation from UT my family plans to walk the full-length of the Wales Coastal Path.
