Mrs. Debbie Gaston
Hello!
I am very happy to be teaching Coupland 3rd graders this year. I am a retired teacher, who was rehired due to the Covid backlash on teachers. I taught Special Education for 10 years, all levels. I also taught Gifted and Talented K-5 for 10 years, my very favorite experiences. I was placed in 5th grade due to my skills in Math and Science because of TAKS and STARR. Since I retired, I became an Outdoor Educator, working at McKinney Roughs Nature Center and directing my own outdoor Nature Camps. Check out Camp Evergreen at Evergreen Christmas Tree farms this summer of 2022. All this totals 45 years of teaching experiences.
I have been married for 40 years to the same man, Clay Gaston. He has worked as the manager of Travis Tractor Lawn and Garden Equipment for over 30 years. We have two children, Krista, who presently lives in San Fransico, but is moving to New Braunfels in November. She is a Family Therapist and will be working on her PHD at San Marcos University. My son Aaron works for Elgin ISD and is a Jack of all trades. He and his wife, Jordan and our granddaughter, Matilda all live together in our home on Main Street in Elgin. Matilda was why I am here in Coupland, but now I have 27 reasons.
I have many interests and hobbies. I have collected rocks all my life, I scuba dive, I am a Bee Keeper, chicken keeper and a gardener.
