    End of Year Performance Standards 

    Reading:  By the end of 3rd grade, students should be able to read grade level text (P) at 120 wpm with 98% accuracy.  They should also be able to correctly answer questions about the text.

     Handwriting:  By the end of 3rd grade, students should be able to write legibly all manuscript and cursive lower and capital letters.  Students should be able to correctly join cursive letters to form words.  Students should use proper spacing and be able to stay within the boundaries of the lines.  

     Writing:  By the end of 3rd grade, students write multi paragraph essays with elaborations for details.  Students should use transitions and adjectives throughout their writing.  They should also be able to respond appropriately to prompts (entertain, inform, persuade) with strong spelling, capitalization, and correct punctuation.

     Math:  By the end of 3rd grade, students should be able to recite their basic addition, subtraction up to 20, and multiplication up to 10 facts with automaticity.  They should be able to correctly answer 100 facts in 5 minutes.
