Special Education Services

  • The Coupland ISD Special Education Department Page is currently being updated with the most recent information. Please excuse our mess and come back soon.

  • Special education is available because of a federal law called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which provides students with disabilities and their parents special legal rights to receive these individualized learning opportunities. This form is a summary of rights, required to be given to parents after a referral has been made. For more information about your rights, review the Notice of Procedural Safeguards and the Parent’s Guide to the ARD Process. These documents are available in multiple languages.

Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), you and your child have legal protection during the evaluation and individualized education program (IEP) process. These protections are called Procedural Safeguards. To listen to the audio version of the Notice of Procedural Safeguards, click here.

The TEA has created a new document that is required to be provided to all families during the 2023-2024 school year. You can download a pdf of the Overview of Special Education for Parents in multiple languages at the SPEDTex website.
