Ms. Kathy Hill

My name is Ms. Hill, and I'm your student's English/Language Arts teacher. I also serve as the 7th grade home room this year. This is my 28th year teaching and my 22nd year here in Coupland.

I grew up in West Texas in Odessa, and I graduated from Permian High School of the infamous Friday Night Lights movie and series. There at PHS, I was the captain of my swim team and an honors student.

After high school, my family and I moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, and I attended Schreiner College in Kerrville, Texas. There I was the editor of my school newspaper, a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar, an honors student, an Alpha Chi scholar, and a Schreiner Ambassador. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a Teacher Certification after student teaching at Fredericksburg High School and Tivy High School. Also while in college, I worked at Lyndon B. Johnson State Historical Park first as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, and then I worked at the Visitors' Center during the school year.

My first teaching assignment set up my love for not only my profession but also the students I teach. I started teaching in Stanton, Texas (Population 3,000 People plus a few Ol' Soreheads) (GO BUFFALOES!), moved to Puyallup, Washington to teach at Cascade Christian School (GO COUGARS!), and now I am still in Coupland (GO, COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS!)!

Here in Coupland I have written and directed many plays, coached multiple writing and speaking events for our U.I.L. teams, sponsored Student Council, and even have published a school newsletter and our early yearbooks. I love to attend as many athletic events as I can.

Both of my children, Austin (22) and Kamryn (11), are proud to be Coupland Cowboys. We live in Hutto, and Austin is a senior at Texas State University in San Marcos and works in the multi-million dollar exhibits at the Witliff Collections at the Albert B. Alkek Library there. He is now finished with his senior course work and Student Teaching in Dripping Springs. Kamryn is an artistic writing reader.

In my spare time, I love swimming, reading (especially historical fiction), writing, music, traveling, and going to concerts.

I cannot tell you how excited I am for the new 2018-19 Academic Year!

I look forward to seeing my former students and getting to know my new students!

  • Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!

I am happy to be your child's Language Arts/Reading Teacher this year!

What a successful and fun first week back! I cannot wait for next week!
