Bachelor of Arts in English with a Teacher's Certification 6-12 from Schreiner College (now University) in Kerrville, Texas
Ms. Kathy Hill
Hello!
My name is Ms. Hill, and I'm your student's English/Language Arts teacher. This is my 31st year teaching and my 25th year here in Coupland.
I grew up in West Texas in Odessa, and I graduated from Permian High School of the infamous Friday Night Lights movie and series. There at PHS, I was the captain of my swim team and an honors student.
After high school, my family and I moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, and I attended Schreiner College in Kerrville, Texas. There I was the editor of my school newspaper, a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar, an honors student, an Alpha Chi scholar, and a Schreiner Ambassador. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a Teacher Certification after student teaching at Fredericksburg High School and Tivy High School. Also while in college, I worked at Lyndon B. Johnson State Historical Park first as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, and then I worked at the Visitors' Center during the school year. I was also secretary to the Vice-President of Texas Gun and Knife Association and a runner for The Kerrville Daily Times.
My first teaching assignment set up my love for not only my profession but also the students I teach. I started teaching in Stanton, Texas ("Population 3,000 People plus a few Ol' Soreheads") (GO BUFFALOES!), moved to Puyallup, Washington to teach at Cascade Christian School (GO COUGARS!), and now I am still in Coupland (GO, COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS!)!
Here in Coupland I have written and directed many plays, coached multiple writing and speaking events for our U.I.L. teams, sponsored Student Council, and even have published a school newsletter and our early yearbooks. I love to attend as many athletic events as I can.
Both of my children, Austin (25) and Kamryn (14), are proud to be Coupland Cowboys. I live in Hutto, and Austin just got married over the summer to my new daughter-in-love, Brandy. He works at UT, and she is part of Summit K-12. Kamryn loves anime, music, Theatre, art, and her friends. She attends Hutto Ninth Grade Center.
In my spare time, I love swimming, reading (especially historical fiction), writing, music, traveling, and going to concerts.
I cannot tell you how excited I am for the new 2021-22 Academic Year!
I look forward to seeing my former students and getting to know my new students!
